VIJAYAWADA: Despite it being the examination season, a large number of students joined the Happy Sunday programme held at the Indira Gandhi Municipal.

Happy Sundays was celebrated at two venues in the city.
Gundepalli Devi Sri Prasad, a Class V student of Silverbell Central School, Tirupati, stole the show at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium with his
record breaking limbo skating performance. Prasad who has his name in several record books is aiming for a mention in the the Guinness Book of Records.
The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) along with the Rotary Club of Vijayawada and Swachch Vidyalaya, Vijayawada unit, organised a painting competition with a theme “Swachch Bharat.” More than 5,000 students took part in the contest to try and showcase their skills.
The VMC Commissioner G. Veerapandian and Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rammohan Rao inaugurated a 260 km cycle rally of three government school teachers that began from Vijayawada going up to Proddutur. The rally was aimed at creating awareness on the need for developing greenery. Veerapandian, addressing the gathering, said that huge response to “Happy Sundays’ brought joy to all.
Students of SRK College rocked the floor with their energetic dance performances. Traditional and folk dance performances by students attracted the crowd.
